I was asked about adding grease to the mid section and the zerks coming out??
The Force/Chryslers, the zerks were pushed in and not threaded
When the grease is added without proper preparation the zerks come out.
IF?? you do regular maint from initial purchase then you don't usually have to worry.
But if you get a motor secondhand and don't know the maint. history?
You should be careful when adding grease.
The grease might have been in there for years and turned hard and won't move.
I use a propane torch(best) or even a heat gun.
Start at the zerk and heat your way up to the top of the mid section where the top bushing should be.
Then work down to the bottom bushing.
The bushing area has a boss built up around the bushing making it thicker.
Don't get the bushing too hot, it can melt and seize.
If the zerks are already gone, you can put a couple of threads in the old holes and install new zerks.
In severe cases you can drill the boss and install the zerks there.
Just be careful of the placement. You can install them and they can break off when you turn the motor.
