Hello I'm new to the post but have read many of your expert replies on boat repairs and troubleshooting.Several months ago I perchased a 1981 invader with a 1981 mercury 50 h.p. motor/with trailer. The whole shabang cost me 650.00 dollars ,the boat had rot in the floor not major but I replaced it anyway with new exterior plywood and 2 coats of fiberglass.I had all the cushions and seats relaced and I put in new carpeting.Everything inside is different variations of RED looks like a floating bordello.Anyway the motor ran but after the first time out,on my second trip out the motor lost power. With help from this forum I rebuilt the carbs, fuel pumps and replaced the broken choke linkage and broken actuator plate,I did a link and sinc. The motor runs really great now thanks to all your help. And by the way there was a person who had a broken choke selenoid plunger who was frustrated and didn't know what to do.I was able to fix mine by using a thin piece of wire and some shrink tube, works fine now. Some time you just have to have a little bit of redneck built in.Thanks again
SLY
