green bond wire /fuel sender issue

I have a built in plastic fuel tank and recently, I just had to replace the original fuel sender which was made out of plastic. A green bonding wire was attached to one of the screws holding the unit to the tank. Inside the tank are mounted metal thread receivers for the screws.

I now purchased a new sender unit in which , the round 5 bolt flange, is made of metal. The green bond wire, if re-connected, would now be attached to a metal unit, in addition to the metal screw receiver on the tank. Of course, the unit is grounded itself. It now ties the sender and bond together. Now, it's messed up.

I assume I still need to keep the tank grounded. Being that my new unit is metal, How do I keep the sender unit and the green bond wire seperated when they are both connected to the tank?

Re: green bond wire /fuel sender issue

Should not make any difference. Normally the green ground wire goes to the fill fitting which is attached to the hull. This way any electrical static will be sent to ground when you remove the gas pump nozzle.
