I'm running my 15 evinrude '86 model after a major tuneup and it shuts down at WOT. Only did it once, started back up and run fine after about five minutes. sounded like a click in the engine just before the shutdown. It hasn't done it since, but what would have caused it?

It's possible that the lower unit picked up a plastic bag or some other object which closed off the water supply. Of course, this would have resulted in overheating to a point whereas the engine would seize. Is there any evidence of this overheating?

I know that on more than one occasion my elbow has turned off my motor at WOT by hitting the key while bouncing around. Every time it happens I think Oh s#!#t what now, then I go to crank it up and I see the key is off.

Nothing like that, I was just running upriver and she "clicked" and just shut off. I just wondered anybody else ever experienced that kinda thing and is it something I should have checked before I go downstream again. Thanks,<br />DP
