I was grinding and I accadentaly grinded a hole about two inches long and maybe a 1/4 inch wide. What would be the best way to fill the hole? Should i re fiberglass over it or can i get away with some other type of filler?

The best way is to grind all around the hole, tape some wax paper to the outside of the hole, then from the inside paint on a bit of gel coat. Once the gelcoat is set, paint on a layer of resin (poly or epoxy, doesn't matter which) followed by a few layers of glass (mat or weave), each layer getting progressively larger than the previous.

I used that fiberglass bondo stuff... I sanded it all down and waited for it to cure a day and sprayed water on it and it has no leaks... Its about a foot above the water line maybe even a little bit more so im not too worried about it. if that doesn't hold then i will try what you suggested.

Re: Grinded a hole in my hull...

Following with this topic I was wondering about my own project. I am going to have to replace a hole and a series of cracks where it looks like the previous owner backed into something.

What I was considering is grinding out around the holes and cracks and then starting from the inside with fiber glass and working it back out. But would it be better to try the method suggested here?

Here are some pictures for reference
