I’m very new to this. I bought a 2005 bayliner 205 with a mercruiser 4.3tks. I ran it daily for a week fine. Then it made a grinding noise when starting- still ran fine. Mechanic said I need a new starter but ok to run till he gets to it. Was out yesterday after a noisy grinding start and the engine alarm went off after 15 min of nearly full throttle running. Now it only grinds and the engine doesn’t turn at all. If I can trust the oil and temp gauges they were fine at the time ( right in the middle). Thoughts? I can’t unify the grinding start and the engine alarm. The outdrive lube reservoir is full as well ( I just topped it off)
