What I have done is pull sender out of tank and move float arm up and down slowly and watch the gas gauge. All the way down should be empty all the way up should be full and half should be half. I bought one this summer and used a universal sender. the float arm had to be cut down to accomadate my tank. The sender came with a step by step on how to do this. Your sender was doing exactly what mine was doing
To Ground out means;<br />Hook a wire to a Known Grounding Point("-, or Neg" = ground, Usually the Black wires) in the eletrical system.... Then touch it to the Sender side of the gauge...... It SHOULD read Full at that point......
thanks guys for the help It was the sending unit I took it out and the float seemed to be hung up so I put it back in and it seems to work -- but I will see when I cruise if the gage goes down now
