Hello

I did not see a spot for introductions, so I'll do a quick one before I get on to the boat pics....

I'm 28, and from Pa. I have been boating since I can remember. My family has owned everything from a 10' Jon, to a 22" Bayliner Cuddy.... I LOVE the water. I fish, swim, and scuba dive....

On to the "Grumman"... I had a 14' BlueFin with a 9.9 laying around, that did not get much use. I came across an ad for a 18' Grumman that needed a bit of work, for a trade.
From my inspection:

It had 6 loose rivits, that were leaking slightly.
The deck was really soft in spots.
The transom was shot.
Needed a few odds and ends, but otherwise in good shape for an '87.

So, I traded a "spare" 14' boat with 9.9, for an 18' Grumman with an 85 v4 SeaHorse....Both boats had trailers.

It seems that the owned had back surgery, and could not launch/load his boat....It was too heavy, plus needed work.

I don't mind the work!

The Johnson runs great!

I hope to get the deck off, and replace the transom this fall/winter.

What do you guys think?

Also, can you tell me what model this is?

Re: Grumman Restore

Well, I "peened" the loose rivits, and threw in some 5200 for good measure....Took it on the lake, and it looks like I've cured that problem!

Looking at the transom, I may be able to get the rest of this season out of it, maybe not....lol One thing is for sure, I need to sort some of the acc wiring out, it's a mess!

The season is short here in Pa, so I hope to replace the deck soon...

Nice rig. Welcome to iboats!

Should be an easy fix for the deck....just start looking at all of the aluminum starcraft threads and they should guide you fine

Welcome to I boats.
Nice find, looks like its in pretty good shape. Those Johnson 85 were a good engine.
