I have just bought an older boat with a terrible wiring job. There is an RPM guage and a MPH guage, however, both don't work. I was wondering if anyone could explain to we how to redo the wiring for these guages? (eg. how many wires do i need going from the guages and where do they attach to) Thanks a lot.

Re: guage wiring

Schematics are (almost) as many as motor and boat brands...

Let us have your details. Be prepared the first answer very well may be: Get a manual...

Re: guage wiring

Rgoal,
You'll find a lot of good diagrams over at Teleflex Electrical - try here.
Basically, each gauge should have a ground terminal, a batt (or ignition) terminal, and one terminal for the sender (your MPH might just have a small hose/tube as it's sender). There may also be a separate terminal for a light (this should be easy to see from the back of the gauge).

Hope this helps,
Ed
