Hi all.... I've been keeping track of all the questions that everyone has, and I feel kind of perplexed at the moment. What I want to know is which guages is recommended that I have on my dash? I currently have a trim guage (that doesn't work)a tach (that doesn't work), 2 gas guages (that work sort of) an in dash flasher (depth finder) and a speedo. Everyone keeps talking about battery guages, water pressure guages, temp guages...etc..etc. What i'm wondering is from the majority of the crowd out there, which would you all recommend that I have? I'm looking at repainting it this fall/winter and having a mech go through it cause it seems weak and not running smoothly at all at idle. (1989 GT200 on a 19.5' fish/ski boat) In fact, it's weak enough that unless I have no one else in the boat, it wont pull up a skiier. It has no take off power. when the tach did work, it ran about 5500 rpm... idles at just about 1000 rpm, but has NOOOO take off power to pull skiers (which is really frusterating for such a big motor). ANyway, if anyone has any ideas about any of those issues I mentioned, please feel free to address them, as I'm an experienced boater, but not much of an mechanic. Thanks for any help/advice or whatever any of you folks can give.

You are not going to get much response with this rambling post, Matt.

http://www.iboats.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=17;t=009035

Ask your guages question on the Outboard General or Boats Forum.

Ask your questions about your engine performance here, and give us more information about your prop, what you have checked. Get your tach fixed and tell us about rpm now, not "back when it worked".

I will watch for new posts.

Good luck. :)
