hoping you guys can take a guess at what my cost would be for the following:

repower from a 2002 f225 with 350 hrs to a 2005 f250. turn key job, in and out of the shop.

i'm assuming the old engine is worth something to a dealer, but i may be wrong. nothing is wrong with it.

F250 $13,000 plus shipping $500 labor rate x hours $500 to $700 to R&R motors. Dealer may take old as trade but at least should sell on consignment -10% for handeling. $14,000 less whatever you get for the 225. Have all engine evals available for buyers eg. compression, hours etc. Good luck, and why the repower?

Guess he wants as much single "fresh" power as he can get?

Re: guess at my cost

thanks fellas. probably won't pursue, but wanted to ask the question anyway. with talking to a yamaha mechanic, he stated that going to the new 250 would give me 3-4 mph on the top end, better holeshot and midrange torque, and actually better fuel economy at all rpms below 5000. my current engine is great, but i'm a little underpowered when i have 3-4 crew members.

f250 really only $13,000? any idea what my 225 would go for?

Seems to me that the benefits are marginal but if you can afford it go for it. I would not.
