I bought a 15' Aluminum Boat with a 1995, 25HP Merc. The fellow wanted to keep his SS Prop. So I have to buy a new one. The boat will be loaded heavy with 3 guys, Dog, and gear for hunting.

I just want a good prop for all around use. Trying several pitches is kinda expensive.

What is a good all around prop for such an arrangement?

You can use the mercury prop selector (from Mercury's website), but they usually give pretty unrealistic results for small motors.

Since you're going to be heavily loaded when hunting, I'd get the smallest pitch planing prop for your motor. I'm guessing it will be around 10 or 11 pitch. If you also use the boat with less weight, you may want to pick up a second prop with 2 or 3 more inches of pitch.

The stock prop on my '92 25 Merc is 10-3/8x13p. It would probobly have a difficult time pushing your heavy rig with that. I'd probobly change it to an 11 pitch. You might want to consider a MW Vortex. They're reasonably priced and have an "exchangable hub system". You can get different propeller housings with different pitches for different conditions. Look at the Michigan Wheel website for more info.
