I'm looking for a rough guess weight of a 16' center console fiberlass (older '74 model) with a 55hp Evinrude on back. Going to the scale eventually, but with the cruddy weather today I wanted to go price shopping for near future purchase of trailer tires and make sure I'm looking in the correct weight range.

Sorry left out mfr/model. Its a '74 dreamboat. Don't know if that will help much though, company's been out of business for years and I can't find anything other than generic info from the MIC at the Coast Guard website.

Generic guess anyone? Nothing precise, just say closer to 1000 lb or 2000 lb is all I'm looking for.

Impossible to give a good guess as it can be virtually anything.

I'd get the actual weight figure first - or buy the highest load tires that will fit the rims.

jimchere:
I just did this two days ago for about the same reasons. Your trailer lic and the stamp on the trailer will give you its approx weight. Then just haul the boat to a local truck scale after hours and un hook it. Walk around the building and look in the window to see the total weight. Deduct the trailer weight and BINGO you have it. I also talked to a scrap metal guy yesterday and he said I could have just brought it to his place and he would have let me do the same thing.

Hope that helps
Link

Jim,
I have a 197? 16' wellcraft tri hull (modified V?)and it weighs in at 1050#'s for just the boat another 150#'s for the engine 65 horse mercury outboard same vintage. I just purchased a 2000# capicity trailer for it probably overkill but I figure better safe than sorry.

Try this site www.nadaguides.com follow the links for boats put in make select model from pop up screen it will give you basic information and value.

Good Luck. :)

My guess would be the boat equipped for the water without folks has gotta be over 1000#, and well under the one ton mark...let's say around 14-1500#...just a rough guestimate.
