Guide tube to water pipe leading up to powerhead seal?

I just replaced my impeller &, of course, the shift rod is screwed in too much so I get to tear it all apart again to adjust that. My question, the copper tube that runs up to powerhead fits very loosely into guide tube from impeller, is there a seal that should be installed between the two parts? I ordered from this site Sierra water pump parts.

Top and bottom of the water tube go into rubber grommets. same on each end. Sounds like one is missing;

Without the grommets, the pump will not work correctly and probably lead to an overheat. Might want to put some grease on the grommets to help correctly seat.

Re: Guide tube to water pipe leading up to powerhead seal?

I received 2 grommet type seals, I put 1 in the bottom of the guide tube & screwed it in place. The other doesn't fit in the top of the tube. I'll bet I switched them. I didn't check the 2nd seal at all. The guide tube came with 2 in the package, I assumed the other grommet was just an extra part. Does anybody know if seals are different sizes & maybe had this same problem? I'm taking it apart tomorrow to adjust shift rod, I'll check which seal fits where. My shift rod being out of adjustment may be God's way of telling me to seal the impeller correctly!
