87 yamaha 150

the motor was used very little the past 3 seasons. during this 3 yr time it has exhibited slow cranking symptoms similar to a weak battery, but typically it would start, run well, and subsequently crank freely till it sat for a few weeks, then crank slowly again.

battery is new and fully charged.

with the plugs out it would not turn at all by hand. The crank turned a couple degrees but the felt like pistons were holding it.

Broke it free by prying on the flywheel, sprayed penetrant oil in the cylinders, and after a while it turn pretty good.

Now what i'm wondering is if this is caused by cylinder corrosion. when i turn the thing over by hand i dont feel any clunk or rough spot where the rings may have rusted to the cylinder walls.

sounds far fetched but an old retired car mechanic on the dock mentioned it might just be 'gummed up' from sitting and not being able to start it.

EDIT.. a driveshaft seal could cause this motor getting stuck ? ever hear of that?
