I have never figured out what this hole (pictured) in my bellhousing. It was clearly drilled by someone. It is smooth and perfectly circular, with no threading. It doesnt appear to do anything, or affect anything. It is very top right, in the upper part of the "hump" in the bell housing.

One question is, what is in the "hump" portion of the bell housing? I have driven the boat several times and it still goes into gear smoothly, so i dont think it is affecting anything.... but why is it there? i looked and the hump is sealed off from the bellows tube (meaning its seperate).

Who knows who drilled a hole and why in the bellhousing. Maybe somebody thought they could get at a clamp better that way. As long as the backside of that hole is smooth and doesn't have a big old sharp burr on it your okay, as it all sits underwater anyways.
On a side note, even if it has a burr it's probably still fine, as the bellows are a ways down in under that hole.

As far as the hump... what hump?

The hump i was referring to was the rounded part of the bell housing (upper part) See in the pic where i put the dot where the hole is how it is rounded? Didnt know what that part was called so i called it the hump LOL....Thanks for the help!
