Hello, I am in the middle of a fiasco with a 1994 hydra sports ls175 bass boat. I bought the boat with no motor as I had a good used XR2 mercury. I am in the process of swapping the controls and harness out. I am trying to determine what goes to what on the boat. The part in question is a 9 pin connector that was laying in the back of the boat. I realize this is a factory part and no one will know anything about it as its a hydra sports (OMC owned at the time) piece. My question is does anyone recognize this piece as being able to be plugged into a circa 1994 150 Evinrude motor? If it did plug into the motor itself, I could probably find a diagram as to what wires go to what. Im almost positive it is the hookup for the guage cluster as I see one of the wires is solid gray and is probably the tach wire. There is also a big solid red wire which is probably the power to all of the gauges. I realize I can go hunting and ohming out wires but If there was a slight chance I could avoid it, I may as well try. I have my mercury harness in the boat, and the only thing I have to have is a tach and water temperature. The rest really does not matter to me. I realize I could just abandon the harness and run my merc wires to the guages and not fool with the factory stuff. It would be nice though if someone could say ..yes that harness plugs into the evinrude along with the ignition harness. That harness is for the gauge cluster. There are diagrams online. I realize there is probably zero chance of any of this happening, but Im always willing to try. Here is a picture of said connector.

Re: hail mary wiring question

The connector looks like a boat part. Your best bet is to forget the OMC stuff and worry about the Merc wiring and controls.
