hand held gps

Hey guys. I would like to purchase a handheld gps for use on my boat. I don't need all the bells and whistles. I just want to be able to mark waypoints where i'm catching fish. That brings me to my next question. How do i go about putting my favorite lake on the gps and how do i know if the manufacture even has gps of my lake. As you can tell i'm a rookie about all this marine gps stuff. I can use all the help i can get. Thanks.

I have a DeLorme PN-40 and love it. it is a multi-purpose machine that works awesome.I use it for geo-caching, and it lists all the woods and lakes in North America without any issues at all. setting way-points for launching, favorite spots are great, and also if you do run into trouble, having your current exact location helps as well............

Does your unit come with water maps or do i need to purchase them sepreate. How do i know if my favorite lake or resover is on the unit

most come preloaded, however if you want more detail, like i do, get topo 9.0. the maps are dead on and was worth every penny, heck who knows, 9.0 might be standard now ............

i also added a 16G memory card to it so i could load all of NE onto it

I fish a small resivoir in wilmore pa. The place is managed by the fish commission. Can i find it on a handheld gps? Sorry im a rookie at this

Ok I think I might be getting the Garmin eTrex Legend Cx. If i purchase this along with the Garmin Vision Inland Lakes North East micro sd card will it show my favorite lakes and resiviors. The resivior i fish is open to the public and is patroled by the fish commission. I just don't want to get this card and my favorite place isn't on it.
