A woman sought in the stabbing deaths of her two young stepchildren was arrested Sunday in Toronto, authorities said.<br /><br /> Sultana Haque, 30, was arrested by Toronto police after she tried to seek refuge at a mosque there, police told The Star-Ledger of Newark in a story for Monday editions. <br /><br />Haque was being held in Toronto, pending extradition to New Jersey, where she faces two murder charges and weapons offenses. Irvington Police Chief Michael Chase said Haque allegedly told people at the mosque that she had harmed her children and the people called police.<br /><br />Haque, a Bangladeshi immigrant, had taken a Greyhound bus from upstate New York to Canada.<br /><br />Alstan Haque, 8, and his sister, Aisha, 5, were found dead Saturday by their father when he came home from work. Both had suffered multiple stab wounds, Irvington police said. A possible motive was not given.<br /><br />Police said the children lived with their mother but were visiting their father and stepmother for the weekend.<br /><br />The 37-year-old father, whom authorities have declined to name, spoke to Haque by phone Saturday morning. She told him everything was fine, but Haque was gone when he discovered the children's bodies upon returning to their apartment 90 minutes later, police said.
