Re: Hanoi John

Today looked at the national guard service records of our current president.Somebody felt the need to black out some of the records. Why???
It is hard for me to accept the presumption that everything in it is correct.
Kerry did serve his country under fire. While serving he probably disagreed with that war,but he kept it to himself. Then after his service he stood up for his principles.
Flyrod, living in a democratic state like MA or Taxachussets as some refer to it,may have different bone to pick with him.But please do give honour where honour is due

Earning a Purple Heart requires more than getting wounded in action, it requires getting wounded by the enemy. Looks like the jury is still out on who his enemy was.

Yes !!! :) You are right about Mass. being called taxachusetts  BUT I feel that there could be a little misconception about taxes, let me have your attention for a moment
Masssachusetts has had a 5% sales tax ever since I was a young fella :D We don't have a tax on food or clothes.
Hunted in Maine for many years and my Maine friends have said the same thing, BUT they were paying 8% tax on food and everything else. They now pay 6%
New Hampshire has no sales tax. BUT some border towns pay more in property taxes then in Mass. I guess that depends on whether you purchase a one or two holer.
Been to Chicago and could understand why they call us taxachusetts. They are so  on paying 6-10% tax depending on what county your in.
Been to Florida and they pay at least 6% on everything.
Rolmops !! Sorry I got carried away :D
What % tax do you pay on clothes & food??? :p

Ok here goes. After the federal tax break, sales tax on clothing went from 8% to 8.25%.We pay about 50 cents in taxes per gallon (fuel),but when fuel goes up so does fuel tax(percentages). Our registration of any type of vehicles went up and validity was shortened from 3 years to 2.We pay a surtax when buying tires (for removal of old ones)Our property taxes went up by 12 %.The public school system in my town is the third best in the nation according to news week.I pay as much in school taxes as I do in property taxes.Pataki(our republican governor)wants to charge a handling fee of a hundred dollars every time you change something on your gun permit.Food if you can afford it after paying the fees, user rights and other assorted taxes is tax free. There are many other small fees that are not called taxes but they really are.Living in upstate NY your overall taxes come up to over fifty percent.

FTR, I never criticised anyone's service record, Bush or Kerry.
And I am extraordinarily proud of my record, as I did indeed work very hard to change the country, and I did it entirely and completely within the framework of the laws of this country.
In my view, you simply cannot get more patriotic than that.

John Kerry has three purple hearts. Because of the wounds he suffered he missed a grand total of two days work. Probably cut himself shaving, privelege bought those medals.

Just because someone serves, does not automatically mean they deserve respect and honor. Anybody that has served knows there are $hitbirds within their squad, platoon, company etc. that did not deserve respect when they were in the uniform and do not deserve respect when they use their time in service for political gain.

Too many veterans groups have bones to pick with Mr. Kerry over his service record. Go to an American Legion or VFW and listen for awhile. Why does George Bush's service record have to be made public and why are John Kerry's medal citations not made public? Especially when he uses those medals for political gain?

He'll be recieving no honor from me.

No you dint critisize Bush or kerry but you did say this.
"Joining the guard in those days was what people with connections did to avoid going to Viet Nam."

which in my book are crisizing or trying to stir up negative feelings about those who did join the national gaurd.
TYPICAL Plywoody

Guys, leave PW alone, the dems/libs got a token war hero/activist...its perfect they got them a dem so strong he can fight the emoral war and then be even braver and turn on his brothers and country. Behead, rape, kill, women, and childred, as he said he witnessed...? ummmm...I believe your supposed to report war crimes if and when they occur. His admitted would be against the UMCJ.

Listen libs... A real leader would not have watched, a real leader would have been brave to stop such atrocities..A real leader takes risks and will stand alone doing so if neccessary.(hey dont dat sound like GW :) )

He didnt make a peep about it until after he came home. For shame, for shame....hes either a murderer or an accomplis (sp)..

Re: Hanoi John

I don't think Dubya's time in the gaurds was used to help promote his or anyone else's campaign. He may have helped someone's campaign as George Bush, but not as a LT in the gaurds. Like it's already been said, the gaurds were a way to serve and not end up in combat. Texas and Alabama were not invaded once during his stint in the gaurds, so he had a successful tour of duty.

The reason that GW was transferred from Texas to Alabama was to help out a friend of the Bush familys campaign.
