Twenty years ago this week I moved into my daughter's house to "sit" it while she was serving in Desert Storm.

There was a very small kitten there whom I called microcat.

After the war she was adopted by grandson Sean and lived with him until he left for college. She then adopted my Son, John, and lived with him until he married. Along the way she changed her name to "Miss Kitty".

New DIL is not a cat fancier, the infamous Catzilla had gone to meet her maker, so Miss Kitty then came full circle and came to The Hideout.

She doesn't jump on counters and furniture anymore, but otherwise appears to be a typical adult (but small) cat. Sight and hearing may have diminished a bit. Her voice is quite gravelly.

She is currently rubbing my ankles in a request for affection.

Happy Birthday, Miss Kitty. You are the best preserved 20 year old cat I ever knew.

Are you still "house sitting?"

Nope. That ended when Desert Storm troops came home. That is when I moved to The Hideout.

Reminds me of my old calico, Rocky aka The Big Fancy Cat, who passed in 1995 at the age of approximately 19. I say approximately because my cousin dropped her off at my house on his way to Arizona in 1978. He'd had her for about 2 years.

Her favorite treats were chocolate and peanut butter. A little dab of either would set off a highly comprehensive bath from ears to toes.

My last Cat lived to be 20.

RIP::( "Sam, I am".

He was a character, acted more like a dog than a cat.

He had extremely long legs and a long snout. He was a "spitten image" of a cat I had in my youth that lived to be sixteen. My wife bought Sam for my 21st. birthday. He was was with us through many moves. He even survived two weeks of a bitterly cold Minnesota winter when he disappeared for two weeks. We thought he was gone. Sam was an "inside" cat that always tried to escape. One day, he did, much to his surprise.

Two weeks later, he found his way home-skinny-and appreciative of the "finer" things in life-like food.

He moved, wih us to AZ, where he thrived (Sun Rays) but succumbed to a stroke at 20.

RIP Sam!

So many cats that lived to be quite elderly must have been well loved and cared for.

We have a family cat currently residing with my brother that is 22 years old. He still looks like a kitten allthough he is hard of hearing and not as spryas he once was. He has eaten only "wet" cat food for his whole life. I wonder if that has anything to do with his longevity??

Awesome! My cat, Flea, is 18 and also quite petite. Everyone thinks she's a kitten. I've had her since she was 6 weeks old, and I'm amazed that a) she stuck around me all this time, and b) I've managed to keep her alive this long! I know that she won't be around for another 18, and I dread that day.
