GOOD MORNING ALL. I have a 2006 50 hp Yamaha. First start of the day usually takes 10-15 seconds of cranking. After that, it starts up immediately.
I was thinking there might be an adjustment to the enrichment system as there is no choke. Otherwise the motor runs perfectly. The carbs have been cleaned, timing is perfect & fuel is good. Any thoughts?

Just primer bulb until hard, no high idle or throttle & turning the key. 5 second....... 5 seconds....... then she starts

My C40 starts on 2nd or 3rd 2 or 3 second turn of key when cold.
I am on Texas coast so not cold here either. If it is cold I am not out in the boat
With red lever in normal position it adds extra fuel to all cylinders by motor vacuum sucking through the prime start system.
You could make sure those passages are clear, but your cold start maybe normal. But 5 sec run of key at a time sounds kind of long

through some investigating on my own I believe the diaphragm does not come into play in the normal position, only in the open position.

But have a look at all of it anyway.

Seems I remember someone posting about adjusting the needle by turning it to open the gap and allow more fuel to flow,
but I have never tried that so do not know if that is even possible
