Hard drive light

On my computer, most have them, there is a red light on the front. I have been told that this lights up when the hard drive is being accessed. Well, mine stays most of the time now. When it does, I cant open the cover on one of my CD drives. Is there any way that I can figure out what is constantly accessing the hard drive?

It could be a couple of things. Do you have file indexing turned on?? Is your hard drive close to being maxed out? When did you last defrag the hard drive. <br /><br />Press Control-Alt-Delete, click on taskmanager.Under processes, how many processes are running? <br />BTW, what OS are you running??
