95 celebrity 22' w/454 had the control box replaced and they had a hard time getting the shift cables adjusted now it still wants to stay in gear and it is hard to get in reverse.

Yeah, I had the same problem after having the motor replaced. Makes for interesting docking <br /><br />Your linkage needs additional adjustment. Since they had "a hard time" initially, you might want to consider taking it to another dealer to correct it. FYI- after my linkage trouble, the (second) dealer found the brand new linkage housing cracked due to the first guy overtorquing it. Live and learn
