I have a 1989 evenrude 175 xp. I have had carbs rebuilt, all new electronics. Stator, power pack, coils, timing trigger, rebuilt flywheel with new magnets. New spark plugs and wires. The last things were the flywheel timing trigger and stator.
When cold it will start and idle around 11hundred rpms in the water. I can run it up and down the lake a few times with no issues. Runs like a new motor.when I stop and turn it off and sit for 10 or 15 min it is hard to start and will not go above idle speed and will die out if given any throttle. After a few minutes of struggling with it to stay cranked it gets worse. Seems like it struggling for fuel. The fuel pumps are only a year or so old. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the new ( less than 3 months old) stator, timing trigger or rebuilt fly wheel. Someone please help. I'm about ready to give up
