hard wire

I have a 73 johnson 25 hp. electric start with a tiller The plug that goes to the motor is wore out can anyone tell me how to hard wire tis so I can bypass the plug. thanks :confused: :confused:

That cable and plug are not available as new parts, I'm afraid, at least from BRP. You should be able to find a good used one, though, at pretty much any outboard wrecking yard, like tcoutboard.com.<br /><br />You can hard wire it, of course. Just match up the wires from your plug with the wires in the engine connector. It's much nicer, though, if you fix it the right way. <br /><br />If you do hard-wire it, be sure to use the proper sized wires for the battery cables. Too small, and it'll get hot.
