Harmonic Balancer Install

I spoke to a Mercruiser supplier here in the Ft Lauderdale area about a specialty tool to assist me with the harmonic balancer. He told me to just purchase a gear puller at an auto parts store. Any ideas on the reattachment? Would like to hear from those of you who have been there. Thank you kindly in advance!!

Insure the groove on the inside of balancer is aligned to the slot and key on the crankshaft slide balancer on until bolt can catch. tighten and done...

It's a Mercruiser 3.0

there should be a big bolt that you loosened to get the dampner off, unless that motor does not have one. It should though

I just replaced my balancer on a 3.0LX 1996. No bolt and no threads on the front of the crank either.

There was a long thread on this subject about a week ago. End result : Use a hammer and a block of hard wood. Don't beat the living b-jesus out of it, just knock it on.<br /><br />Chris..........
