As per a local Mercruiser supplier, I removed the balancer using a standard gear puller. The outer pulley and flat rubber ring separated from the inner balancer hub. Can this be reaasembled or do I need to buy a new assy. Thank you in advance. The Merc 3.0 has no threads in the crankshaft...is there a preferred methos to getting this on the shaft.

Thanks Aldo...read that string from a few days back. It really left alot up in the air. I do appreciate your response. Hope I can find a reconditioned balancer.

Yea, I personally have never had a problem using a block of wood and a hammer but its all in the 'feel'. Sledge hammer isn't the answer.

I can understand the other opinions, a hammer is a dangerous thing in the wrong hands.

Aldo
