Has anybody changed the flywheel without pulling the engine?

Well I'm attempting this tomorrow. I'm gonna pull the outdrive then disconnect everything needed and slide the engine forward. Since my boat is 6' tall on the trailer there is no way to use an engine hoist. This is a 4.3LX BTW

If anyone has done it I would like to here some tips.

even sliding it needs support from above. A large tree limb, or 3 cinder blocks and a 6 x 6 across might work.dust cover bolts are best removed with the engine at eye level

Why do you not think it's possible? I removed my engine with a normal engine hoist, but I just had to remove the right side tires and drop it down with the floor jack to get the oil pan to clear the gunwale. Sure, it's possible to slide the engine forward and do it, just make sure you have the engine well supported. It's going to be one cramped workspace trying to get to all of the bell housing bolts to get the coupler/flywheel off.

Well I used an A frame to lift it up about 6 inches, spun it around and replace the flywheel.

What all did you end up removing to spin the engine? Can you post any pics or it for reference?
Also, What led you to a new flywheel, I am troubleshooting noises from the bell housing and Scouring any and all threads that may pertain.

Thanks,

You'd just have to remove the outdrive, shift cables, electrical cannon plug, and water intake/fuel lines. Then disconnect the exhaust manifolds from the exhaust tube and remove the engine mount bolts. Takes less than an hour to do, but I'd be exhausting all other options first.
