hey guys merry xmass to all ...:)
its that time of year again to start doing some mantaince and getting the tinny ready for this season, and for a wile ive been planning to upgrade all the lighting from the old 12v light bulbs instaled by the privious owner,
to leds mainly for low power consumption becaus i do alot night fishing for snapper, and was wundering if anyone has tried or used these Waterproof 3528 SMD 300LED Flexible Light Strips here is a pic:

the item can also be viewd here on ebay :
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320606240552&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

the price seems resonable aprox $30 aud and power consumption for the whole 5m strip is only 2amp at 12 v not to mention easy stick on instalation
but the Brightness is only 260 lumen per meter
does any one have somthing similer to this installed and is it very bright??
or is it more like the lighting on either side of the isle in a movie theater?
im only doing a 12ft tinny so aprox 2.5 meters on each side
any info or advice i greatly apreciated and
safe boating and of coarse good luck fishing to all ...... "i need it"

I saw this on Ebay and was wondering about mounting it inside my rod compartment and other storage areas on the door that opens up to provide light in the storage area and maybe under the dash. I Do know the LED lights are very directional and while very "bright" to look at do not light up a area very well. Once you are more than a few feet from the LED you will be in the dark. UV or purlpe will light up Floresenct fishing line farther out but the reflective, visible light is short. Good usable light will be 3 or 4 feet from the LED, but you will ba able to see the LEDs from a long way off.
