Has anyone ever put a swing away tongue on a trailer with surge brakes?

I posted a similiar thread about a month ago. I was trying to decide if I really wanted to do this. Well, I decided to and the hinge kit is ordered. But, I am still not sure what I am going to do about the brake line on my surge brakes.

I made some calls to local auto part stores and brake shops but didn't have much luck finding the flexible brake line. I did find one online but I still need to get the fittings installed and the steel lines flared after I cut them.

Just wanted to check one more time if anyone out here has already been through this.

Thanks

Most boat trailer manufacturers have kits to accomplish this exact task. As mentioned earlier, Champion has the parts. If you have a brand name trailer you can get the kit from them.

or if you want to do it yourself, visit a hotrod/speed/racecar shop.
They will be able to get the right SS braid covered rubber brake hose assembly needed for the tongue joint.
Most autoparts stores countermen these days can't find anything in the store without a computer. Then they can't find what headlight fits your vehicle unless you tell them if it has air conditioning and what engine and transmission it has too.

I have looked at the Champion Trailers website and didn't see any kits??? I must not be looking in the right place. It is an EZ Loader trailer for a 21` Sea Ray.

There just something about taking a "Sawz All" to my trailer that makes me nervous

My EZloader has a swing tongue and surge brakes. They just used a hose 3 or 4 ft long from the actuator to a fitting where it changed to SS tubing. curled it up a bit to allow for movement. works fine.

Orion and Jimmbo,

Thanks for the replies. Is the 3-4 ft hose rubber or braided? Does it go all the way up to and thread directly into the master cylinder (front coupler) or is there a short piece of SS tubing ther first?

Thanks

The hose is the reinforced rubber. Originally the hose went all the way to the actuator. When some parts of the trailer, including the actuator, were replaced by EZLoader under warranty, the new assembly has a SS tube leaving the actuator and changes to a hose inside the tongue frame.

I just went out and took a look at it. There is a metal pipe (looks like aluminum but may be steel) coming out of the actuator. Then there is a rubber hose connected to the pipe that goes through the swing part of the tongue.
