Re: Hatches
Do a scan of the various that Cabelas, Bass Pro, Overtons and other companies offer. There's a lot of options for materials (plastic and aluminum) and sizes. I installed two plastic units on the enclosed bow of my boat to make it easier to store stuff in there. They're about in the 13X24 range (can't remember off hand; I cut the holes based on what was available, given the spacing of the boat's structural parts). They've been in place for 4 or 5 years and I'm very happy with them. They get regular use and are walked on by large people every time I use the boat or get into it to work on it (walk thru windshield). Absolutely no signs of wear or weakness. They are weather proof and non-slip. Mine happen to be tempress, and don't lock. But I seem to remember from when I was shopping that there were similar locking hatches from other manufacturers. I have to say that I'm quite happy with the performance of my Tempress hatches. Any particular reason why you don't like Tempress? Good luck and please report back with what you find as I'm always looking for "better"!
