Have a couple questions(pics)..

Was wondering what the grease fitting just behind the engine is for. There is another one that you can hardly see but I know its for the steering according to the OM. Its on the top of the picture. Couldnt find anything about the other zerk in the manual. How much grease should we put in that zerk? The manual says to put grease in the steering fork(zerk you can hardly see) till it starts coming out.

Also, what are the wires for coming out of the top of the steering fork?

Another thing, why is the paint burnt off of the intake manifolds on both sides in the exact same spot? Both engines have that in the same spots. One side looks like it has some sort of little port, whats that for? Should that wire above the little port be connected to something?

Top Pic:
The grease zirk is for greasing the intermediat bearing/s in the flywheel cover.
I think I posted a link in one of your other questions either to the service manual for your drive or asked what model you have, but there is a cross section picture in the manual that shows what it does.
The wires come from the potentiometer for the trim gauge.

Pic 2 and 3.
There is a hot air tube in the intake that heats the choke coil on non electric choke carbs. The paint always burns off those areas.

I'd be getting out the grease gun. That fitting does not appear to have ever been used.

Yup, you gave me the service manual but since I had other questions and that manual is over 100 pages long I figured I would just ask. Owners manual is kinda short so I went through it looking for the zerks.

WizeOne, you are correct and that was one of the main reasons I wanted to ask.. Looks like its never been used in almost 18 years.

I agree bubba. Although that would be more useful on things with more zerks. Weve only got 4.
