I got a 2007 mercy 6 hp with a brand new (six days of use duck hunting) fuel line and connector kit. For some reason as you pump the bulb, you can hear air leaking from the connector to the motor. gas is also sealing out. When you turn the engine in the up position on the boat, you find gas all over the boat later. I checked the O ring in the line connector and it looks fine. Pumping up the bulb while haveing the connector off the motor results in no leaking gas past the ball inside. Do the connectors on the motor wear out and it can't seal? The black connector with the pin in it looks fine also.

are you using the plastic attwood fuel connector, or are you using an OEM mercury (moeller) fuel connector.

I have found that the attwood connectors leak.
