Have i Broken it???

hi,
the other day i was out in my mercury 650 blueband when it cut out at high speed. the only thing i noticed was steam pouring out of peehole and a smell of rubber after it cut out. it wouldnt start even after cooling down. it normally pumps water fine. have i damaged engine or could it be something simple???

any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like it got pretty hot. Not good news.

shoot for the basics first. gas/spark/compression. hope for the best. let us know what you found out. Matt
