Pretty sure sierra sells the full line of mercruiser points ignition upgrade complete distributors, drop in/plug n play.

As far as merchandise in stock or quality of said merchandise, unknown.....

I usually only go to sierra for specific parts or as a last resort, ymmv

are you sure its play, or the mechanical weights moving. rotational movement is required for the mechanical advance to work. side to side movement is the bushings.

if your distributor shaft has side to side play, you must go to NAPA and buy the two distributor bushings. bottom one is about $7, top one is about $8

and you must have your old ones out to measure the ones you need. simiply replacing the bushings and your current distributor will last another 32 years. and with points lasting as long as 20 years with normal maintenance, you are out less than $40 for the next 32 years

failure to fix the slop in the shaft and your conversion will fail

as far as conversions go, Mallory makes a good one, Pertronix makes one that is iffy based on my experiences. the conversion will cost you in the $75-$120 range

or you can upgrade the whole distributor to the delta voyager for about $350

Aside from what the others have said, you can go here and search for the model of your distributor. It will show you the conversion kit you need.

Points are not a bad system as long as you know how to use a dwell meter & feeler gauges. Auto shop 101.
