trying to rig a crab trap but am having trouble tying a knot that doesn't slide out with this rope. Any knot suggestions or trap rigging suggestions?

You know now that you mention it we should have a section here on knots and tying them.

NGT, What type of crab pots are you using (square, house, round).
That leaded line is usually 5/16" or 3/8" for the commercial pots. It is more ridgid than the poly but you should be able rig the pots with a fishermen knot.
One thought is they sell a 4-way crab harness that has 4 clips to the pot into one single ring where you clip(caribenier) onto your line.
BTW hows the crabbin in your area? Here in Washington state the crab season shuts down on Sunday(Jan 2.)
Have a happy new year

I hope it's not over on Monday. I just tied the knots the guy above said, and got some aluminum hose clamps that I just screwed down on the loose end or over the whole knot. As for crabbing here, it's been great. We took out 5 guys with 7 pots in Bodega and limited out on Dungy. Then we went out to Tomalas and got 42 + about 20-30 rock. IMO, it's been pretty good. Water has been rough the last week or so though.

Sounds like your in Nor. Cal where i was born and raised. My dad would take me to Bodega and Tomalas Bay to gather oysters and clams in the 60's then we would fish for stripe-bass in SF bay by Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.
Glad to see the crabbin is still good in those areas

Yeah, I live in the North Bay. Mostly fish for stripe-bass out in Napa, but we caught a keeper in Tiburon last Thursday. I'd like to find more strie-bass spots in the Bay Area. My 12 foor boat can't get me out in San Pablo or the SF Bay. I'm chicken I guess.

Oh, and I'm using the square traps. About 2 feet square and 1 foot high.
