http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970...ewItemQQcategoryZ26455QQitemZ4560317021QQrdZ1
its a 1970 60hp head 3cyl

Im looking for a head to swap my big 1984 65 hp comm head with.. the 65hp head is thick and has a huge combustion chamber.. im looking to swap it for a head that has a signifcanly smaller combustion chamber so i can raise the compression.. which results in more power!

They both take the same head gasket, but i think the water jackets are much different.. do you guys think this head will bolt up?? do you think it will result in a power loss because im going from 65hp to 60hp head..

Thanks / team_starcraft

You may raise compression with this head, and if the gasket is the same,it should bolt on.
But between 60 hp and 65 hp I don't think you'll see a difference.

Also, trying to 'hop up' a 22 year old motor .... Think about it.Everything in it IS 22 years old.

DHP

I honestly take that as an advantage.. The older stuff is simpler..

If i can get the compression up to 8.5-1 or more.. it will give me more power..

Does anyone know if they make a jet kit for the carbs on evinrude?

Hi Team Starcraft,
I would go with a head from a later 70hp from the late 1970s or early 1980s. Then you won't have to cobble together a mount for the coils. They're out there, and not uncommon. Poke around your local marinas and you'll likely pick up a good used one. Check if for warping before installing. ..
- Scott
