hey i have a 76 apparently, 55 hp chrysler and the compression is 145 ish and 155 ish . the top cyl has the lower compression and the plug goes not bright white but not tan or black either. the lower plug is very dark. when i have it at idle in neutral i can rev it up and it will rev as high as i want it to but when i put it in gear it loses all power and i notice that the top cylinder gets very warm (hard to touch it warm) and there is alot of steam coming out of the exhaust tube. i know it's steam and not smoke i checked and it smells like ht water. i was ust wondering if you guys are thinkin head gasket based on this explanation and if so would napa have a gasket
??? or are they even available these days. thanks.

Re: head gasket?

Could be head gasket, could be exhaust cover gasket. Sure does sound like you are steam cleaning the top plug. NAPA MIGHT have one but you would be better off contacting franzmarine@aol.com or get him over at The Chrysler crew.
