GOOD NEWS. . . . The PICTURE UPLOAD FUNCTION IS WORKING !!! The tech folks at the parent company have been able to remedy the issue. You can upload pictures once again. Thank you for your patience.
I'm trying to find a head hatch for a Monterey 240 Explorer sport 2002. The factory no longer makes them or stocks them. Does anyone know where I can source this out at? is there something like a boat junkyard that I could check?
Thanks for the responses. I will try Great Lakes and Boat Outfitter.
The hatch is the clam shell top style that is curved and hinged to come down and meet the head door. Very common style but pretty sure this one was made only for this boat. Is it possible that this was common to a variety of boats? It would make sense financially for boat manufacturers to use a common style hatch lid instead of going thru the huge expense of having a custom one made as long as it adapted well to their design. Your right it was made by a third party which is out of business.
Wish me luck with these suppliers and please post any other ideas if you think of anything.
I think you are most likely gonna have to make that one yourself or have it made.....
buy sheet plastic and form it with heat.... you could make a form out of wood and mold it to that... then mark and cut to shape..... It COULD also be made from aluminum with or without a frame and last it could be made from 1/8" ply and fiberglassed.
Great Lakes Skipper has the drawing and it appears they can make it. Not sure of the cost yet but they are checking. Would be better if I could find a junked boat with a hatch in good condition but I feel better that at least one can be made. Thanks for the info.
