Health of battery question... Bulging...

Got 4 batteries in yesterday... have been sitting for over a year... .2 Volts each and a HUGE bulge on each side.<br /><br />Is it safe to even hook a charger to them and see if by some way off posibility that they can hold a charge?... or just go drop them off at walmart for recycle...?

I myself never did trust a battery that was bulging.<br />I just always went and got new ones.<br />That way I knew they were ok.

Bulging is not good. I'd get rid of them, too. Had one blow up on me while charging. Blew the whole top part off. What a mess that was and lucky I wasn't standing right over it when it blew up.

bulging on the side is usually caused by over<br />charging. In the cold country it is also a good<br />sign of a once frozen battery.

Thanks NOSLEEP for that info.<br /><br />Now I know what is wrong with me and why I bulge. <br /><br />Either overcharged, which I doubt, or have been frozen, which I have a few times.

Hmmmmm......I bulge, a lot. And the wife says I've been overchargeing.....it all make sense!

Yep bulging in no good. It means that there is a growth of stuff on the plates which will make it so it does not charge. Had the same thing on my last bad battery.

As long as nobody has any bulges on there forehead<br />there should be no sign of overcharging, and <br />everything should be O.K.
