Re: heater install

on your engine water pump.....there should be an extra outlett that is capped off with a plug......get a fitting that will take a 5/8ths heater hose. and run the input line to the heater from there....

the output is easy....send it to a "t" in the hot water feed line to the heat exchanger.....

if you can join it to the block thats better.....but the "t" system will work.

enjoy your heater.....they make all the difference when you are damp from swimming or skiing when the sun is not the hottest.

cheers

Re: heater install

Is your '165' a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder? Completely different hook ups...

Ayuh,... Ya got it Backwards Oops...
The plug in the circulating waterpump is the low-pressure Return...
The Hi-pressure feed is pulled off the intake manifold, Before the T-Stat housing...

He has the 4 cyl (470 style) 165, in an 87 Wellcraft.

Dadwayne, if you downloaded the OEM service manual as I suggested in a previous post, go to pages 6A-12 and 6A-13. It explains how to tap into your engines cooling system. Nothing goes in the intake manifold or the circulation pump, that's for V8 engines.

Re: heater install

Don, I have a 96 Malibu with a Indmar 5.7. The heater has never worked correctly ( not getting hot ). The engine temp is correct about 145-150. The Pplumbing goes from a nipple on the side of the recirc pump to the heater core and back to the top of intake manifold near t-stat. It appears as if these are both outlets. Could i use the top port on the recirc pump as an inlet? Hope this makes sense!

Re: add heater

I merged the two threads together, dadwayne, in the future don't open 2 threads on the same subject.
