Heavy vr light, effect performance?

I went from a heavy prop (not sure what its made of) to a lighter aluminum.


Does the weight of the prop effect performance in any way?

In a way, yes. The heavier prop we'll assume was stainless steel. Stainless will hold it's shape better than aluminum -- ss has less flex. Traditional aluminum cannot be made into the complex shapes of todays high technology props like ss can. Stainless wears better. Stainless can be "tweaked" to points aluminum can't. Generally a prop thief won't bother with an aluminum prop.
