i took the boat out this week, it felt great to actually do something other then work, pay bills, and worry,
if anyone remembers my original post,my 150 efi was running hot and wasnt pumpin water when i attempted to get the boat on plane...it pumped water fine while idling, but not at higher rpms,
well i replaced the impeller, put the l/u back together, and prayed that was the solution,
turns out i got the boat launched,i had no problems at all with over heating and the engine was pumping a very strong stream of water the hole time it was running..i must have fixed the problem, thanx for all the advice......

NOW LISTEN TO THIS CRAP!
wouldnt ya believe as friggen fate would have it,after running the boat myself for 20 minutes at wide open throttle and basicly feeling very happy and proud no sooner do i turn the boat around to head back to the dock to take a few anxious young boys out for a bass fishing day,the gawd dammined power trim/tilt stopped workin on the boat!
after whackin the trim motor a few times with a blunt object, the trim worked fine,it would stop workin ,i'd whack it again it would work again,it was tough gettin the boat up to wot with the trim not properly functioning,so to save alot of young broken hearts,i pretty much musterd the boat up enough to get us around the lake for the day at lower speeds where i didnt have to trim the engine too much, the kids all got a great bass lesson, they all caught a few bass, all was good....NOW QUESTION?

DO I NEED A NEW TRIM MOTOR?
THERE IS OIL IN THE UNIT,
IF I BANG THE MOTOR WHILE TRIMMIN IT,IT WORKS AND SOUNDS STRONG,IF I DONT BANG IT AS IM TRIMMING IT,IT BASICLY STRUGGLES OR JUST DONT WORK AT ALL!
MY MANUAL DOSENT GIVE ME A VERY CLEAR DISCRIPTION OF REPLACING THE TRIM MOTOR,IT DOSENT LOOK TOO TOUGH THOUGH,AS IVE INVESTIGATED IT ALREADY,ANY TIPS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!

MIKE

Maybe a bad set of brushes? I'd take it apart and see what's going on before buying a new motor.

It maybe the trim relays (solenoids) in the cowl.
When you whack the trim motor you are vibrating the relays and they make contact. Try shorting the big lugs on the relays w/ a screwdriver or something to see if the trim works but beware of the sparks made because of the closeness to the carbs (and gas!)

even when the trim motor works,it sounds as if it is struggling very baddly, and it raises the engine slowly,i can hear the changes in the noise it makes as i whack the motor housing,
when the motor dosent work at all,i can hear the relays clicking when i depress the up and or down bottons on the side of the engine.

if i steadily whack the motor housing,it works fine, then after a few times up and down without me whackin it,the motor begins to struggles then eventually stops workin altogether, then once i whack it ,it works again.

mike

Sound a bit like a thing called 'poling'. That when the armature (bit inside that spins around) is touching the field coils (bit inside that the armature spins in). Could be a collapsed bearing. Again, not that hard to fix.

Chris..............
