Help: 1955 Johnson 5.5hp Powerhead interchange

I have 1955 johnson 5.5hp motor that was my grandfathers. Last weekend it threw a rod and damaged the block on me. I found a 1954 5.5hp powerhead..Will a 1954 interchange with the 1955 powerhead.

Please help.

They should bolt right up. I can't remember the hood on the 54. That could make a difference on how the rubber mount's line up.

Will a hood mounts on the 1954 match up on a 1955 . Whats the difference on how the rubber mount's line up? If there is a difference..Or what do i have to change motor to motor for parts??Please help..

If you have both engine's, just compare the power head's, and how everything is attached.

Yes, the powerhead will work. Only changes will be the intake manifold, as I believe the '55 did away with the thumscrews on the cowling. The thread into tabs on the intake manifold, so you'd have to swap your '55 onto the '54 powerhead. Other than that, all else is the same.
