Help!! 1968 40hp Evinrude 40872 D

I was given a 1968 40 HP EVINRUDE Outboard 40872 D but the wiring harness was cut that goes to an ignition box I assume. Can I just jumper the wires to a key starter or will need more. Does anyone have a color code for the wiring. Lost and new!! Thanks for any help. Email me at jvsali@hotmail.com or msn messenger at EDIT Out in the garage playing with now.

hi i have the same problem i have no controls for the gear selector or the ignition and could do with some help with rigging something up if anyone can help i would be so greatful my email is DIT thanks
