after hot noon everyone!!!have a 1969 115 jonny that seems to be getting to much fuel.if i stop the boat for any amount of time and then try to start it its like just bearly running and f you play with the throttle you can finnaly get it to run great high speeds no problem below say15 mph it runs a little ruff,i what to adjust the throttle because i think it might be of,ccording to my throttle box its way off!!!the box has slow, start, and fast on it,when you start it its a least 1/8 to 1/4 past the "start" position, now how i understand it slow would be your idle speed ,start would have some rpms behind it but it just seems like the throttle is off!???i have a good manuel but just wanted some input from the good people of iboats.could this be my problem that its just getting gas the wrong way?too much?flooding?its a push button tranny just for info.is there something else i should look for?dont think its electrical could be but just seems like a fuel problem or adjustment, like i said high spedds smooth and fast below 10-15 mph starts running ruff, should i look anywhere else?plugs slow speed adjustment

Re: "help"1969 115 jonny!!

If those are the original 1969 carbs, I THINK they have adjustable low speed jets (that is, needles). I bet the adjustment has slipped. There are four of them, visible if you take those four black plastic covers off the airbox. Normal initial setting is 7/8 of a turn open.

Take a look at what they're set on now (how many turns open). If they're way off - that's the problem. If not, then we've got to look at other things. Let us know.

Re: "help"1969 115 jonny!!

basic setup is 1 turn out for high speed jet and 1 1/2 turn for low speed jet, check and make sure your chock isn't sticking, you might pull the needle seats out and make sure they arn't crudded up then reset them to above, all motors are different you just have to play with the adjustment till you get the idle you want then the high speed.

Re: "help"1969 115 jonny!!

Joe's talking about a different carb, I think. I think his FAQ post is generalized commentary on setting the carb on the old single-carb twins (e.g. 40hp). The setting for the 1969-1971 V4 carb low speed needles is 7/8 turns from closed. There aren't high speed needles in that motor, it has fixed jets instead.

So were any of them way different from 7/8 turn? Have a good Thursday night...
