Help ! 20 amp fuse blowing on 98' 40 hp mercury

I just purchased this boat & motor 3 days ago I had to bring it to the shop immediately carbs needed repair. now on two occassions last night and today the fuse has blown. The first time as soon as I returned from the shop i tried to start it and nothing, i called the shop nad was told to check the fuse and sure enough blown. 2nd time today first time out with boat it was running fine I stopped to fish and when i went to start nothing , fuse blown again !

do you have power trim? is the trim switch in the throtle handle? most blown fuses are from a chafed wire at the control. another area is under the dash-any thing powered up by the "key on" power (purple wire). things like the tac and fuel gauge are examples. if some one just did carb. work chk. for pinched wire harness. dose the fuse blow when you turn the key "on", or, when you push in the"choke"? this should not be hard to pin pont. hope this helps.
