Hot water appears to be coming from behind the port side motor mount. Is there a freeze plug in that location or do I have a cracked block?

You can get a mirror and see - or put your digital camera down there and take a few pictures. But yes, there are core (freeze) plugs on the side of the block. It could be a plug has popped out. (Of course the bad news is.... that doesn't mean you do not also have a cracked block. :( ).

Subscribing in . . . where are you located and can you tell us more about the history of the boat/engine?

In terms of your questions, as the others said, . . . 'yes', and 'possibly'

Culprit - bad freeze plug. Poor flushing routine by prior owner (salt water). Luckily no damage to the block.
