Help - 2000 SX150TXRY OX66 EFI

I have a question ... I drained the VST tank and replaced the gasket and the VST filter. Does the VST tank need to be filled with fuel before reassembly or can I just pump the ball to get fuel into the system?

You can just pump the ball and if you take off the cowling you will hear the fuel rushing into the vst.
